Men's Tennis Wins Fourth Straight, Defeats Lehman

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's tennis team won its fourth-consecutive match Tuesday afternoon, and ninth in its last 10 outings, after dispatching visiting Lehman College by a 9-0 score. The host Rams (10-3) swept through all three doubles matches unblemished, while conceding just five points across it six straight-set singles decisions.

FSC collected three 8-0 wins in doubles action, with top-flight partners Mark Baker (Sr.; Baldwin, N.Y.) and Ryan Hendel (Fr.; No. Merrick, N.Y.) leading the way by topping the Lightning's (2-8) Christian Agudo and Kenneth Davis. Junior Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) and senior Muhammad Sawar (Brentwood, N.Y.) moved past Lehman's Viola Avdyli and Caroline Lopez, while senior Michael Baranowski (So. Huntington, N.Y.) and sophomore Vincent Manzi (Massapequa, N.Y.) collected a triumph versus Jimmy Evans and Jaden Youngs.

Hendel swept past Agudo unblemished at the No. 2 singles flight, while sophomore Matthew Murrell (Shirley, N.Y.) posted an identical result at No. 6 against Youngs. Baker (vs. Avdyli), senior Matthew Olkhovetsky (Great Neck, N.Y.; vs. Lopez) and junior Ethan Cintron (Bayside, N.Y.; vs. Evans) conceded just one game apiece in the Nos. 1, 4 and 5 flights, respectively, with Manzi rounding out the sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 at the third flight against Davis.

Head coach Adam Waterhouse's Farmingdale State side is back in Skyline Conference action Wednesday afternoon, when it travels to Kings Point, N.Y., for a 4 p.m. first serve at the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
