Men's Tennis Sweeps Sarah Lawrence, Moves to 2-0 in Skyline

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College men's tennis team moved to 2-0 in Skyline Conference play Tuesday night, when it cruised past visiting Sarah Lawrence College by a 9-0 count.

Eight of the Rams' (4-2) nine victories were of the shutout variety, including all three doubles decisions, as the hosts won their third-consecutive outing.

Senior Mark Baker (Baldwin, N.Y.) and freshman Ryan Hendel (No. Merrick, N.Y.) continued their partnership at the top doubles flight to defeat Clayton Miller and Simon Kopecky, with junior Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) and senior Muhammad Sawar (Brentwood, N.Y.) scoring the 8-0 decision at No. 2 versus Nikita Knecht and Vance Johnson. The No. 3 tandem of Gabriel Durkin (Jr.; No. Babylon, N.Y.) and Michael Baranowski (Sr.; So. Huntington, N.Y.) rounded out FSC's sweep of the doubles points against the Gryphons' (0-3, 0-2 Skyline) Reid Bean and Peter Fathi.

Sabovic and senior Matthew Olkhovetsky (Great Neck, N.Y.) swept past Kopecky and Knecht at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively, with sophomore Vincent Manzi (Massapequa, N.Y.) turning the same feat at No. 4 versus Johnson. Rounding out sweeps at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively, for the hosts were junior Ethan Cintron (Bayside, N.Y.) against Fathi, and senior Edward Kemp (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) over Bean.

Head coach Adam Waterhouse's Farmingdale State squad is now on the road for its next three matches, beginning Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at Skyline foe Purchase College.
