Men's Tennis Rolls Past Yeshiva in Skyline Opener

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State men's tennis team rolled to a 7-2 victory over Yeshiva University on Sunday afternoon in their Skyline Conference opener. 

The Rams (3-2) earned wins in all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 advantage as the top-flight duo of senior Mark Baker (Baldwin, N.Y.) and freshman Ryan Hendel (North Merrick, N.Y.) defeated Eitan Jeselsohn and Michael Natkin, 8-5. In the second match, junior Alan Sabovic (Bohemia, N.Y.) and senior Muhammad Sawar (Brentwood, N.Y.) cruised to an 8-1 victory, while the #3 pairing of senior Matthew Olkhovetsky (Great Neck, N.Y.) and sophomore Vincent Manzi (Massapequa, N.Y.) won, 8-6.

The first through third singles matches finished consecutively with the Rams winning all three to take a 6-0 advantage and clinch the match. Baker and Hendel earned 6-0, 6-0 wins at first and third singles, respectively, while Sabovic was victorious in the second slot, 6-1, 6-1.

The Rams seventh point came in the #6 position as Manzi defeated Israel Bussu, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.

Jeselsohn (6-3, 7-6 (9-7)) and Mark Adler (6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6)) earned wins in the fourth and fifth spots for the Maccabees to account for the 7-2 final score. 

Farmingdale State next plays host to Skyline opponent Sarah Lawrence on Tuesday, March 28th at 4:30 p.m.
