Haggerty, Wandle Tally Four Goals Apiece in Win at MSMC

Newburgh, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team defeated Mount Saint Mary College, 15-5, in their Skyline Conference opener on Saturday afternoon to improve to 7-1 overall on the season. FSC senior attackmen Terrence Haggerty (Centerport, N.Y.) (4g, 4a) and Jake Wandle (Rocky Point, N.Y.) (4g, 3a) combined for 15 points in the victory.

The Rams (1-0 Skyline) started quickly as Haggerty notched an unassisted goal only 53 seconds in.

Just two minutes later, Wandle set up both Haggerty and sophomore attack Thomas Stock (Selden, N.Y.) for back-to-back goals to go in front, 3-0.

The score remained 3-0 at the start of the second quarter before Mount Saint Mary (5-3, 0-1 Skyline) tallied two unanswered goals to cut their deficit to 3-2.

Senior midfielder Johnny McMahon (Albertson, N.Y.) recorded a man-up score with 1:01 on the clock as Farmingdale State led 4-2 at the break.

FSC opened the third quarter with three straight goals, including a pair of man-up scores by junior midfielder Hunter Lyons (East Islip, N.Y.), to go in front by five, 7-2. 

After a MSMC goal, Haggerty and Wandle scored as Farmingdale State took a commanding 9-3 advantage.

The Rams led 10-3 heading into the fourth quarter and used goals from Wandle, Stock and senior attack Rob Varello (Smithtown, N.Y.) (x2) to go up, 14-3.

Wandle added a man-up goal down the stretch, from Haggerty, as FSC went on for the 15-5 Skyline Conference victory.

Haggerty finished with four goals and four assists for a game-high eight points. He has recorded 8+ points on three occasions this season and currently leads the Skyline Conference in both goals and points.

Wandle notched four goals and three assists for seven points. He has totaled 14 points across his last two games and now ranks fifth in the conference.

In addition, sophomore midfielder Antonio Kaminskey (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) won 18-of-21 faceoffs (85.7%) and picked up 12 ground balls. He leads the Skyline Conference in faceoffs won and faceoff percentage.

Varello tallied two goals and two assists, while Stock registered two goals and one assist. 

As a team, the Rams had six man-up scores, a mark that ranks second all-time for a single game in program history.

Farmingdale State next will travel to St. Joseph's-Long Island for a conference game on Saturday, April 9th at noon. Farmingdale State and SJC-LI will be playing in the "Legends Game" sponsored by Long Island Metro Lacrosse Foundation. The two teams will be wearing special uniforms, which will be auctioned off for LI Metro, and honoring lacrosse legends Tom Postel, Jack Kaley, Ralph Pepe and Mike Thearle.
