Stock Records Career-Best Seven Points in Win at Anna Maria

Farmingdale State - 18, Anna Maria - 3


Paxton, Mass. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team traveled to Paxton, Massachusetts to play Anna Maria College on Tuesday evening and earned an 18-3 victory behind a career-high seven points by freshman attack Thomas Stock (Selden, N.Y.). 

The Rams (4-1) and Amcats (0-4) were knotted at 1-1 just over six minutes into the game before freshman attack Rob Varello (Smithtown, N.Y.) set up Stock for back-to-back goals to put FSC on top, 3-1.

Freshman midfielder Antonio Kaminskey (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) won the ensuing faceoff with senior midfielder John McMahon (West Babylon, N.Y.) picking up the ground ball. Just 20 seconds later, McMahon set up Kaminskey for a goal to give Farmingdale State a 4-1 lead heading to the second quarter.

FSC extended their lead to 5-1 only 40 seconds into the second as senior attack Terrence Haggerty (Centerport, N.Y.) netted the Jake Wandle (Rocky Point, N.Y.) pass.

Following a goal by Anna Maria with 5:58 on the clock, Haggerty responded with an unassisted score to put the Rams in front, 6-2.

Stock notched his fourth goal of the game only 1:27 later, off the feed from sophomore midfielder Johnny McMahon (Albertson, N.Y.), to go up, 7-2.

The Rams took an 8-2 lead into the halftime break and used a pair of goals from Wandle increase their advantage to eight.

Following another unassisted score by Haggerty, Stock set up Varello for a goal before scoring one of his own to put FSC ahead by 11, 13-2.

Farmingdale State led 13-3 after three quarters and outscored the Amcats, 5-0, in the fourth as they went on for the 18-3 non-conference victory.

Stock led FSC with five goals (on seven shots) and two assists for a career-best seven points. Haggerty recorded four more goals and an assist and has tallied 2+ goals in every game this season. Wandle finished with three goals, one assist and a caused turnover, while Varello notched two goals, two assists and a ground ball.

Johnny McMahon controlled the midfield as he registered a goal, three assists, two caused turnovers and two ground balls. 

Kaminskey won a career-best 18-of-22 faceoffs (81.8%) to go along with 14 ground balls and one goal. His 18 faceoff wins is tied for 13th all-time for a single game in program history.

Freshman Christian Lembo (Farmingdale, N.Y.) picked up three ground balls while controlling the FSC defense and freshman goalkeeper Kevin Loonie (Lynbrook, N.Y.) stopped seven of the 10 Anna Maria shots on goal he faced to improve to 4-1 on the year.

Loonie is currently the NCAA Division III national leader with a .721 save percentage this season. 

As a team, the Rams rank third in the Nation in shot percentage (.380), are fifth for scoring defense, allowing just 4.40 goals per game, and 16th in faceoff percentage (.667).

The FSC men's lacrosse team will next will play host to New Paltz for a non-conference game on Saturday, March 19th at 1:00 p.m.
