- Rice and Baker named Player's of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the spring weekly report #9 on Monday, April 22nd, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics. The New Jersey Athletic Conference released their Track, Field and Rookie Athletes of the Week for men's and women's outdoor track.

Baseball Update (26-6, 15-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

Farmingdale State swept Maritime in a conference doubleheader last week and clinched home field advantage for the upcoming Skyline Conference Baseball Championship.

Junior right fielder Vincent Rice (Massapequa, N.Y.) earned Skyline Conference Player of the Week honors. Rice batted .500 with three hits (two home runs), three runs scored and 4 RBI, while slugging 1.833 against Maritime. In game one, Rice was 2-for-3 with a triple, home run, two runs scored and 2 RBI and followed by going 1-for-3 with a HR, run scored and 2 RBI in game two.

Senior pitcher Matthew Constantine (West Babylon, N.Y.) claimed a spot on the Honor Roll after allowing no runs over seven innings of work against Maritime, including a 3.1-inning save in the opening game.

This week the Rams are slated to play four games: Tuesday at William Paterson @ 3:30 p.m., Wednesday vs. Stevens @ 3:30 p.m. and Saturday (DH) vs. Mount Saint Vincent @ noon on Senior Day.

 

Men's Tennis Update (8-2, 4-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In two matches last week, FSC earned 8-1 victories over both Mount Saint Mary and Brooklyn College.

Freshman Mark Baker (North Baldwin, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Baker remained undefeated on the year with two more wins at both #1 doubles and #1 singles. At first doubles, Baker and teammate Malik Bass (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) earned an 8-2 win at MSMC before picking up a shutout victory at Brooklyn College, 8-0. In singles play, Baker recorded a 6-1, 6-3 win at MSMC and followed with a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Brooklyn.

This week the men's tennis team will play three home matches: Tuesday (Senior Day) vs. St. Joseph's-Brooklyn @ 4:00 p.m., Friday vs. Rutgers-Newark @ 4:30 p.m. and Saturday vs. Sarah Lawrence @ 1:00 p.m.

 

Softball Update (15-13, 13-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The softball team had the week off and will host Staten Island (DH) on Tuesday @ 3:00 p.m. before wrapping up the regular season at Mount Saint Mary (DH) on Saturday @ noon.

  

Women's Lacrosse Update (5-10, 4-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In FSC's only game last week, the women's lacrosse team defeated Skyline opponent Maritime, 10-7. The Rams will play a pair of conference games this week: Tuesday (Senior Night) vs. Mount Saint Vincent @ 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at Old Westbury @ noon.

 

Men's Lacrosse Update (10-4, 3-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

Farmingdale State hosted Merchant Marine in a Skyline game last week and fell, 15-8.

Junior AJ Sandorfi (Lynbrook, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll after tallying six points on five goals and one assist.

This week the men's lacrosse team will play two conference road games: Friday at Maritime @ 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at Mount Saint Vincent @ 1:00 p.m.

 

Outdoor Track Update 

At the Division I Stony Brook Wolfie Invitational on Saturday, the men placed ninth and the women finished tied for 10th. Sophomore Marina Magoulas (Islip, N.Y.) broke the school record in the discus with a toss of 33.76m (110' 9").

Next up for the Rams is the Penn Relays held at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Penn. on April 25-27. On Sunday, April 28th, Farmingdale State will host the Skyline Conference Outdoor Track Championship.

 

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team finished in 11th place out of 15 teams at the Westport Hampton Inn Spring Invitational hosted by UMass-Dartmouth at Allendale Country Club North Dartmouth, Mass.

FSC has the next few weeks off before heading to the NCAA Division III Championships at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky on May 14-17.
