New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the spring weekly report #8 on Monday, April 15th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Softball Update (15-13, 13-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In a trio of doubleheaders last week, the Farmingdale State softball team swept non-conference opponent John Jay (10-2, 9-1) on Tuesday before earning 3-of-4 conference wins over the weekend. The Rams split with St. Joseph's-Long Island (2-3, 1-0) and swept St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (10-0, 6-3) on Saturday and Sunday.

Freshman second baseman Julianna Prescia (Oakdale, N.Y.) and junior pitcher Julia Walpole (Mahopac, N.Y.) were named the Skyline Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Prescia hit .625 in the 5-1 week for the Rams, including two doubles, two triples, five RBI's and three runs scored. She went 3-for-4 in both games against St. Joseph's-Brooklyn and now holds a slugging percentage of .657, a mark that sits atop the conference leaderboard.

Walpole went 2-0 on the mound with a miniscule .184 batting average against. Only allowed seven hits, one earned run and one walk while fanning nine in her 11 innings of work. She registered a complete-game, three-hit shutout over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Sunday.

FSC has the week off and will next host the College of Staten Island on Tuesday, April 23rd at 3:00 p.m.

 

Women's Lacrosse Update (4-10, 3-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In two Skyline games last week, Farmingdale State defeated Purchase, 19-7, before picking up a 14-12 win versus St. Joseph's-Long Island.

Junior midfielder Courtney Gendels (Wantagh, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Gendels recorded a team-high 18 points, on 13 goals and five assists, to go along with three ground balls and four caused turnovers. On Tuesday vs. Purchase, she tallied six goals and four assists and on Saturday vs. SJC-LI produced seven goals and one assist. Gendels also reached the 100-goal milestone against the Golden Eagles.

This week, the Rams have just one Skyline contest on Tuesday at Maritime @ 7:00 p.m.

 

Outdoor Track Update - Skyline Men's Full Report    Skyline Women's Full Report

Last week, the FSC men's and women's outdoor track teams traveled to Stockton College for the Osprey Invitational in Galloway, N.J.

Senior Philip Sellitto (Levittown, N.Y.) was named the Men's Track Athlete of the Week, while sophomore Marina Magoulas (Islip, N.Y.) was tabbed to the Women's Field Athlete of the Week honor roll.

Sellitto placed fifth of 60 in the 200m (22.40) and fourth of 39 in the 400m (50.35) and was also the second leg of the winning 4x100m relay team (42.77).

Magoulas set the school record in the hammer at the Osprey Invitational and placed third of 17 with a toss of 45.64m (149' 9"). She also finished ninth of 25 in the discus (31.37m) and 18th in the shot put (8.98m).

This week, the Rams head to Stony Brook University for the Wolfie Invitational on Saturday, April 20th.

 

Men's Tennis Update (6-2, 3-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The men's tennis team earned a pair of conference victories last week as they defeated both Merchant Marine and Purchase, 6-3.

Freshman Mark Baker (North Baldwin, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. Baker went 2-0 at #1 singles, losing just four total games in over pair of straight-set victories against USMMA (6-2, 6-0) and Purchase (6-1, 6-1). At first doubles, took an 8-4 decision versus the Mariners and followed with an 8-3 win against the Panthers. Baker remains undefeated through seven matches in both singles and doubles play, including 4-0 apiece in Skyline competition.

Senior Daniel Kafka (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) earned a spot on the Player of the Week honor roll after posting a perfect 4-0 week. 

This week the Rams will be playing five matches: Tuesday at Mount Saint Mary @ 6:00 p.m., Wednesday at Brooklyn @ 4:00 p.m., Thursday vs. York (NY) @ 4:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. both Oneonta & Oswego starting @ 10:00 a.m. (@ Oneonta).

 

Baseball Update (24-6, 13-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

After falling 10-1 at #11 The College of New Jersey, the FSC baseball team rebounded with a pair of conference sweeps against Old Westbury (3-2, 13-2) and Purchase (7-2, 8-2).

Sophomore catcher Ryan DePalma (Albertson, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week honor roll after hitting .600 (6-for-10) with three doubles, five RBI's, two runs and a stolen base on the week.

This week Farmingdale State will play one Skyline Conference doubleheader, Saturday at Maritime @ noon.

 

Men's Lacrosse Update (10-3, 3-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The Rams earned two victories last week to increase their winning streak to seven games. FSC defeated non-conference opponent SUNY Delhi, 15-8, before a picking up a Skyline victory at Purchase, 15-3.

Senior midfielder James Ragland (Seaford, N.Y.) was tabbed to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week honor roll after posting nine points (6g, 3a) on the week. Ragland tallied a game-high five goals and recorded his 100th career point in the win at Purchase.

This week, the men's lacrosse team will host Merchant Marine for a Skyline Conference game on Thursday @ 7:00 p.m. on senior night.

 

Men's Golf Update

Last week, the Farmingdale State men's golf team traveled to the Dr. Tim Brown Invitational at Ballston Spa Country Club hosted by Skidmore College on Saturday and Sunday. The Rams had a two-day total of 647 and placed 11th out of 15 teams. Junior Brian Crawford (Stormville, N.Y.) shot a team-low score of 76 in the final round to finish tied for 37th with a two-day total of 154.

FSC next will travel to Allendale CC in North Dartmouth, Mass. for the Westport Hampton Inn Spring Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
