Skyline Releases Spring Weekly Report #5

- Rosino named Player of the Week; Wieczorek & Murarka tabbed Rookie's of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Spring weekly report #5 on Monday, March 27th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Pitcher of the Week, Honor Roll and conference statistics.

Men's Lacrosse Update (8-1, 2-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams were 2-0 last week with victories over both FDU-Florham (9-5) and Purchase (24-3).

Freshman attack Ryan Wieczorek (West Islip, N.Y.) earned Skyline Rookie of the Week honors. Wieczorek, a four-time weekly award winner, scored a team-high 11 goals in a 2-0 week for Farmingdale State. In the win over FDU-Florham, he tallied a game-high and tied a career-high with seven goals (including the game-winning) to go along with five ground balls. Against Purchase, Wieczorek scored four goals on six shots. He leads the Skyline with an average of 4.22 goals per game on the year.

In Division III, Farmingdale State ranks fourth in scoring margin, eighth in caused turnovers per game and ninth for scoring offense. Individually, Wieczorek is fourth in goals per game and ninth in man-up goals, while senior goalkeeper Brendan Schade (Holbrook, N.Y.) ranks 18th in goals against average.

This week FSC will play two conference home games: Wednesday vs. Kean @ 7:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. St. Joseph's-LI @ 1:00 p.m.

Women's Lacrosse Update (5-0, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The women's lacrosse team carded two wins last week after defeating Western Connecticut State (15-14) and Albright (14-12).

Senior midfielder Brittany Rosino (North Babylon, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Rosino recorded her second consecutive weekly accolade after leading the team in goals (7) and points (10) to go along with three assists. In the 15-14 win over Western Connecticut State, she scored a team-high four goals, including the game-winner with 1:39 left to put the Rams ahead 15-13, and had a game-high nine draw controls. In the 14-12 win over Albright, Rosino scored a team-high three goals and added a game-high three assists. She leads the Skyline with 16 goals scored this season.

In the NCAA, FSC ranks 14th in assists per game and 16th for points per game. Senior attack Janisha Sanchez (Brentwood, N.Y.) is 10th in the Nation for assists per game.

The Rams will play three games this week: Tuesday vs. St. Joseph's-LI @ 7:00 p.m., Thursday at New Paltz @ 3:00 p.m. and Saturday at Eastern Connecticut @ 2:00 p.m.

Baseball Update (6-8, 3-1 Skyline) - Full Report

The baseball team played five games last week, including four Skyline games. The Rams swept Merchant Marine and split with Mount Saint Mary.

Sophomore pitcher Matthew Constantine (West Babylon, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll. Constantine was 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA in two appearances (one start) last week. In game one versus Merchant Marine, he threw six innings of relief, allowing one run on two hits, while striking out seven. Constantine started game two versus Mount Saint Mary and tossed six shutout innings, allowing three hits and striking out six. He held opposing batters to a .119 average.

This week FSC will play five games: Wednesday at Ramapo @ 3:30 p.m., Saturday vs. Purchase (DH) @ noon and Sunday at Old Westbury (DH) @ noon.

Softball Update (7-9, 2-2 Skyline) - Full Report

Farmingdale State was 2-2 last week after splitting Skyline doubleheader's with both Sage and Old Westbury.

Sophomore third baseman Sierra Cardenales (Patchogue, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after batting a team-high .538. She was 3-for-4 at the plate in game one versus Sage and went 3-for-3 with a double, triple and three runs scored in game one versus Old Westbury. Cardenales held a .625 on-base percentage in four games.

The softball team will play two conference doubleheaders this week: Friday vs. Yeshiva (at Old Westbury) @ 10:00 a.m. and Sunday at Sarah Lawrence @ noon.

Men's Tennis Update (2-2, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

Farmingdale State opened the spring season with a 9-0 non-conference victory over York (NY).

Freshman Dylan Murarka (Westbury, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. Murarka lost just two total games in the Rams' victory versus York (NY). He won by a 6-0, 6-1 decision at #2 singles and earned an 8-1 decision at #1 doubles.

This week the men's tennis team will travel to Purchase for a conference match on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

Men's Golf Update

FSC will travel to Downingtown Country Club in Downingtown, Pennsylvania for the Rosemont College Invitational on April 1 & 2.

Outdoor Track Update

The outdoor track teams open the season on Friday, March 31st at the Roadrunner Invitational.
