Misericordia Uses Six Goal Fourth Period to Defeat Rams

Dallas, Penn. - Misericordia scored six goals in the fourth period en route to a 10-5 non-conference victory over the Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team last night in Dallas, Penn.

Trailing 3-1 with 7:21 remaining in the first, freshman attack Michael Cegielski (Somers, N.Y.) scored off junior attack Brad Rapone's (Roslyn, N.Y.) pass to cut the Rams (6-3) deficit to 3-2.

Farmingdale State junior attack Conor Pittard (Setauket, N.Y.) scored the only goal of the game in the second period to even the score at 3-3 heading into halftime.

Misericordia (5-4) regained the lead at 4-3 on a third period goal by freshman attack Chris Fleming (Hatboro, Penn.).

After the Cougars scored back-to-back goals to open the fourth, senior attack Philip Schaefer* (Holbrook, N.Y.) recorded an unassisted score for Farmingdale State to close within two, 6-4. Misericordia outscored the Rams 4-1 over the final 7:23 as they earned the 10-5 non-conference win.

Rapone had a team-high three points on one goal and two assists, while junior defenders Dylan Bates (Wading River, NY) and Matthew Brendel (Hicksville, N.Y.) each picked up a game-high four ground balls. Junior goalkeeper Thomas Fallon (Kings Park, N.Y.) stopped 10 shots for Farmingdale State.

The Cougars were led by Fleming who scored a game-high three goals.

The Rams next will host Kean in a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, April 4th at 1:00 p.m.
