Philip is a 2010 graduate of Sachem North High School, where he was All-County in both lacrosse and volleyball his senior year. Philip is the son of Bill and Kathy Schaefer.

Senior year...Named First Team All-Skyline...Started every game and led the Rams in goals (34), points (45), game-winning goals (3), man-up scores (3) and man-down goals (1)...Also ranked second in ground balls (54) and third in assists (11). In the Skyline, was third in game-winning goals, sixth in goals per game and 10th for points per game.

Junior year...Named First Team All-Conference...Led the team in goals (34), assists (14) and points (48)...Recorded three man-up goals, one man-down score and 36 ground balls...Ranked third in the Skyline in goals per game (2.43), seventh in points per game (3.43) and 10th in assists per game (1).
