Skyline Releases Spring Weekly Report #4

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Spring weekly report #4 on Monday, March 23rd, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Pitcher of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Women's Lacrosse Update (1-2, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The women's lacrosse team posted a 1-1 record in a pair of games last week. The Rams fell, 15-14, in four overtimes at Randolph-Macon and followed with a 13-11 win at Oneonta.

Senior midfielder Nicole Marzocca* (North Babylon, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Marzocca scored three goals – including the game-winner – and added a pair of assists on Mar. 21 as Farmingdale State earned a 13-11 win over Oneonta State. She had four goals and two assists in the Rams' 15-14 (4OT) loss to Randolph-Macon on Mar. 17 and also compiled 14 shots, eight draw controls, five caused turnovers and four ground balls on the week.

This week FSC will host Western Connecticut State on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. and Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Men's Lacrosse Update (5-2, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams were 2-1 last week with victories over Eastern Connecticut and FDU-Florham.

Senior attack Philip Schaefer* (Holbrook, N.Y.) was named Player of the Week after recording seven goals and adding a pair of assists with 18 ground balls and 10 shots. He scored four goals – including the game-winner – and added an assist on Mar. 22 as FSC earned a 12-8 win over FDU-Florham. Schaefer had a pair of goals on Mar. 20 as the Rams edged Eastern Connecticut, 6-5 and had one goal, one assist and 10 ground balls on Mar. 17 in a 5-4 loss to Roger Williams.

The men's lacrosse team next will play at Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday, March 28th at 1:00 p.m.

Softball Update (5-5, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

Farmingdale State finished their trip to Florida with a 5-5 mark at the Rebel Spring Games.

Senior Taylor Webb (West Babylon, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Pitcher of the Week. Webb tossed five innings of scoreless relief to earn the win as the Rams edged Cortland on Mar. 16, 6-4. She yielded just two hits and fanned two in the game. Senior outfielder Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after going 2-for-4 with 4 RBI in the victory over Cortland.

This week the softball team will host Sage in a DH on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and St. Joseph's in a DH on Sunday at noon.

Baseball Update (2-7, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams were 2-7 in nine games at the season opening Snowbird Classic in Florida.

Senior right fielder Michael Marino (Franklin Square, N.Y.) was named Player of the Week and freshman Ryan O'Connor (Babylon, N.Y.) earned Pitcher of the Week honors.

Marino had a monster week going 13-for-19, including two doubles and a homerun along with seven runs scored.  He hit safely in all six games (is now on an 8-game hit streak) and recorded three hits against Manchester, UMass-Boston and Wooster. Marino had his first homerun of the season against Wooster on Mar. 19 and added two stolen bases on the week. O'Connor tossed five innings of scoreless relief with a pair of strikeouts to earn the win as Farmingdale State edged Denison on Mar. 18, 3-2. He scattered two hits and issued one walk on the week.

Freshman infielder Domenic Palumbo (Plainview, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after batting .385 two doubles over five games.

FSC will play on Thursday at William Paterson (3:30 p.m.), Saturday DH at St. Joseph's (noon) and Sunday DH at Yeshiva (noon).

Men's Tennis Update (1-1, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's tennis team will open play on Tuesday, March 24th with a home non-conference match against John Jay at 4:30 p.m.
