Rams Drop Non-Conference Game Against Oneonta

Oneonta State - 10, Farmingdale State - 1


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team fell, 10-1, in a non-conference game against Oneonta State this afternoon. The Rams now stand at 1-1 on the year, while the Red Dragons improved to 2-0.

Sophomore midfielder Charles Montgomery (Pleasantville, N.Y.) scored the opening goal for Oneonta 2:15 into the first period. The Red Dragons extended their lead to 2-0 on a score by junior attack Mike Metzger (Colonie, N.Y.) with only 20 seconds remaining in the first.

Oneonta outscored Farmingdale State 2-0 in the second period as they took a 4-0 lead into halftime.

The Red Dragons used third period goals by Metzger, Nathan Doody (Tully, N.Y.), Patrick Colligan (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) and Anthony Laureano (Holtsville, N.Y.) to extend their advantage to 8-0.

Trailing 9-0 early in the fourth, the Rams broke the shutout as junior midfielder Derrick Sherrod (Huntington, N.Y.) scored a man-up goal off the feed from Philip Schaefer* (Holbrook, N.Y.). Oneonta would add a late goal en route to the 10-1 victory.

Farmingdale State was 13-for-15 on face-offs in the game.

Metzger finished with a game-high three goals and added one assist for the Red Dragons, while junior goalkeeper Ryan Adler (Smithtown, N.Y.) registered 12 saves in the win.

Farmingdale State next will travel to FDU-Florham for a non-conference matchup on Wednesday, March 4th at 7:00 p.m.
