Rams Fall in Semifinals at Kean

Union, N.J. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team fell, 15-5, in the Skyline Conference Semifinals at Kean University this evening in Union, N.J. The Cougars advance to the Championship game, while the Rams end the season with a 7-8 record.

Tied 1-1 midway through the first period, sophomore attack Matthew Finn (Huntington Station, N.Y.) gave Farmingdale State a 2-1 lead with a man-up score off the pass from senior Jason Opitz (West Hempstead, N.Y.). Kean (15-2) responded with an unassisted goal by sophomore attack Dylan Conte (Glen Ridge, N.J.) to tie the game at 2-2 with 4:54 remaining in the first.

Two Cougars goals in the first 2:06 of the second period extended their lead to 4-2. The Rams cut the deficit to 4-3 on a score by junior midfielder Andrew Incantalupo (Shirley, N.Y.), before Kean scored the final goal of the half and took a 5-3 advantage into the break.

In the opening minute of the third, Farmingdale State freshman attack Matthew Visintin (Yonkers, N.Y.) pulled the Rams within one with an unassisted score. Six consecutive Kean goals gave the Cougars an 11-4 lead after three periods.

Kean outscored Farmingdale State 4-1 in the final period en route to the 15-5 playoff victory.

Sophomore midfielder Donovan Devaney (East Northport, N.Y.) scored one goal, was 14-of-17 on face-offs and picked up 10 ground balls for the Rams.

The Cougars were led by Conte who had a game-high four goals, while junior midfielder Mike Sheehan (Colonia, N.J.), senior attack Brad Mills (Vernon, N.J.) and junior midfielder John Marcelli (Moorestown, N.J.) each had three scores.
