Skyline Releases Spring Weekly Report #6

- Marzocca, Paccione named Player of the Week, Anderson and Weingarten earn Rookie honors -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Spring weekly report #6 on Monday, April 8th, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Pitcher of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics.

Men's Tennis Update (5-0, 2-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams posted a pair of victories this week with 9-0 shutout wins over Brooklyn College and Yeshiva University.

Sophomore Justin Vijungco (Forest Hills, N.Y.) went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and first doubles and was named to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week Honor Roll.

This week Farmingdale State will travel to Purchase on Wednesday, April 10th at 5:00 p.m., host NYU-Poly on Saturday, April 13th at noon and finish the week with a road match at Sage on Sunday, April 14th at noon.

Women's Lacrosse Update (9-2, 7-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The women's lacrosse team won two Skyline games with victories over Kean and St. Joe's.

Sophomore attack Nicole Marzocca (West Babylon, N.Y.) was named Skyline Player of the Week. Marzocca tallied 11 goals on 15 shots and added three assists last week. She recorded seven draw controls, five caused turnovers and four ground balls in the two games. Marzocca scored five times against Kean and then posted six goals, two assists and five draw controls versus St. Joe's.

This week the Rams travel to New Paltz State on Tuesday, April 9th at 3:00 p.m. and host Montclair State on senior day on Saturday, April 13th at 1:00 p.m.

Baseball Update (14-9, 7-1 Skyline) - Full Report

Farmingdale State posted a perfect 4-0 record last week. The Rams swept both Mount Saint Mary and Maritime in Skyline Conference doubleheaders.

Junior infielder Daniel Paccione (Commack, N.Y.) earned Player of the Week honors. Paccione collected seven hits in nine at-bats (.778) with seven runs scored and 7 RBI. He slugged two home runs, two triples and a double, while having three multi-hit games. Paccione had two home runs and 7 RBI in a doubleheader sweep (16-9, 10-6) of Maritime.

Freshman pitcher Alex Weingarten (East Rockaway, N.Y.) was named Rookie of the Week. Weingarten had his bid for a no-hitter broken up with two outs in the seventh inning on April 6th as Farmingdale State recorded a 10-1 win over Mount Saint Mary. He allowed an unearned run on one hit with one walk and four strikeouts. This is the second time this season he earned Skyline Rookie of the Week honors.

The Rams will host New Jersey City in a 9-inning game on Tuesday, April 9th at 7:00 p.m. and then travel to St. Joe's on Saturday, April 13th at noon and host NYU-Poly on Sunday, April 14th at noon.

Softball Update (12-12, 5-3 Skyline) - Full Report

The softball team played four Skyline games last week and lost both to NYU-Poly before sweeping Sage.

Freshman catcher Meagan Anderson (Patchogue, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. Anderson collected 10 hits in 22 at-bats (.456) with 6 RBI and five runs scored over six contests. She hit safely in all six games and added a pair of walks. Anderson is currently riding a 10-game hitting streak and was named the Skyline Rookie of the Week for the third time this season.

Sophomore center fielder Michelle Mongiello (Elmont, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll. Mongiello collected eight hits in 20 at-bats and had the game-winning RBI in Farmingdale State's wins against Baruch and Sage.

This week Farmingdale State plays three road conference doubleheaders. They face Purchase on Wednesday, April 10th at 3:30 p.m., Mount Saint Mary on Saturday, April 13th at noon and Mount Saint Vincent on Sunday, April 14th at noon.

Men's Lacrosse Update (6-5, 3-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's lacrosse team was 1-1 in a pair of games last week. The Rams fell to Wesleyan and defeated Mount Saint Mary 12-3 on senior day.

Sophomore attack Matthew Finn (Huntington Station, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Honor Roll after scoring six goals and adding three assists on the week.

Farmingdale State will host Kean on Wednesday, April 10th at 4:00 p.m. and then travel to Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday, April 13th at 1:00 p.m.

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team opened their spring season with a runner-up finish at the Farmingdale State Invitational at the Bethpage State Park - Red Course.

Junior Adam Larkin (Bellmore, N.Y.) led the way for the Rams with a third place finish after shooting rounds of 77 and 73.

This week Farmingdale State will travel to Lyman Orchards Golf Club in Middletown, Conn. for the Manhattanville Spring Invitational on April 13th & April 14th.
