Rams Roll Past Knights on Senior Day

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's lacrosse team defeated Mount Saint Mary College, 12-3, on senior day this afternoon in Farmingdale, N.Y. Tom Hartmann (West Babylon, N.Y.), Bobby Thomas (Wantagh, N.Y.), Jason Opitz (West Hempstead, N.Y.), Peter Deignan (Massapequa, N.Y.), Ricky Morales (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Josh LaMantia (Setauket, N.Y.) were each honored before the game.

The Rams (6-5, 3-0) outscored Mount Saint Mary (5-6, 1-2) 5-0 in the first period as sophomore attack Matthew Finn (Huntington Station, N.Y.) recorded a pair of scores.

Farmingdale State increased their lead to 8-0 after scoring three consecutive goals to start the second period. After a Knights goal, Opitz scored with seven seconds left to give the Rams a 9-1 lead at the halftime break.

Finn scored all three of Farmingdale State's goals in the third period as the Rams opened up their largest lead of the game, 12-1. The Knights scored two goals in the final period but fell 12-3.

Finn tallied a game-high five goals and added two assists, while Opitz scored four goals and had one assist. Thomas recorded a game-leading five assists and picked up three ground balls and sophomore midfielder Donovan Devaney (East Northport, N.Y.) led the team with six ground balls. Morales caused four turnovers and picked up a pair of ground balls in the victory.

Farmingdale State next will host Kean on Wednesday, April 10th at 4:00 p.m.
