Hurowitz, Powell Named to All-Skyline Conference Men's Basketball Team

COMPLETE SKYLINE CONFERENCE RELEASE

NEW YORK | The Skyline Conference released its 2022-23 men's basketball all-conference teams Tuesday afternoon, and Farmingdale State College seniors Nick Hurowitz (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) and Corey Powell (Valley Stream, N.Y.) both earned recognition in voting by the conference's 12 head coaches. Hurowitz earned first-team praise, while Powell repeats as a second-team performer.

A two-time Skyline Player of the Week recipient this winter (Jan. 4, Feb. 14), Hurowitz led the Skyline-champion Rams in numerous statistical categories, posting top-10 conference ranks in free-throw percentage (first, .846), field-goal percentage (fourth, .457), scoring (seventh, 14.8 ppg) and rebounding (eighth, 7.3 rpg).

Powell, who was named the Most Outstanding Player of last week's Skyline Conference Championship, repeats as a second-team performer after playing lock-down defense on the opposition's top perimeter threat and averaging 12.2 points per outing (No. 14 in Skyline). The Dec. 20 conference Player of the Week scored a team-best 16 points in Saturday's (Feb. 25) conference title tilt against Manhattanville, while collecting 50 assists, 14 steals and as many blocked shots through the Rams' 28 games thus far.

Head coach Brendan Twomey's Farmingdale State team, winners of three of the last six Skyline championships, opens 2023 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship play on Friday (March 3) at 4:50 p.m. against No. 2 Christopher Newport in Hampden Sydney, Virginia.
