FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Seniors Nick Hurowitz (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) and Corey Powell (Valley Stream, N.Y.) each shot 8-of-11 from the field Tuesday night at the Walter A. Lynch Sports Center, finishing with 20 and 17 points, respectively, to send the Farmingdale State College men's basketball team past Skyline Conference foe SUNY Old Westbury by a 100-52 count.

The Rams (17-7, 12-3 Skyline) remain tied with Yeshiva University with the top conference record, which sets up a battle for the No. 1 seed in the 2023 Skyline Conference Men's Basketball Championship when the two teams meet in Saturday night's 8:30 p.m., regular-season finale at FSC.

Hurowitz picked up his third-consecutive double-double by hauling in a game-best 11 rebounds, while Skyline assist-to-turnover ratio leader and junior point guard Jevon Santos (Elmont, N.Y.) dished out eight assists in his 20 minutes of play. Freshman forward Macai John (Hauppauge, N.Y.) shot 6-of-7 from the floor for a 12-point evening during his 15-minute stint.

All 17 student-athletes scored points on the night for FSC, which shot 38-of-70 (.543) from the field and held a 48-35 edge on the glass. The Rams defense forced 21 turnovers by the Panthers (3-20, 3-12), converting those miscues into 37 points in transition.

Five minutes in, Farmingdale State started a 21-4 run over a 9:36 stretch to go ahead by a 31-12 score on Hurowitz's pair at the charity stripe with 5:15 on the clock. After Old Westbury pulled to within a 35-20 margin, FSC scored the next nine points of the contest on its way to a 47-25 halftime edge. In the opening stanza, the Rams converted 10 OW turnovers into 16 points, while owning a 12-7 advantage in second-chance points. Hurowitz shot 6-of-8 for 15 of his points before intermission, while Powell added 11 on a 5-of-6 showing from the floor.

The first nine points of the second frame went Farmingdale State's way, started by John's steal and flush less than one minute into the resumption of play. In all, the Rams opened the half on a 22-6 run, with Hurowitz's jumper off an assist from Santos providing his side a 69-31 lead 7:01 in. FSC shot 10-of-13 (.769) from the floor during the spurt.
