LEXINGTON, Ky. | The United States Marine Corps and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its record-number 1,333 collegiate and high school recipients of its 2023 Team Academic Award, and head coach Kellie Block's Farmingdale State College women's volleyball team was recognized for its in-classroom successes this past academic year.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year by the AVCA, honors volleyball teams that maintain a minimum year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on the 4.0 scale.

"The commitment our coaches make to help their student-athletes pursue the best versions of themselves is evident in the academic accomplishments highlighted today." said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "Achievement on the court has always been closely tied to success in the classroom which is reflected by the number of championship programs honored."

The Rams went 15-8 during the 2022 slate, including a 10-1 mark in Skyline Conference play that tied for the top of the regular-season standings for the second-consecutive season. Block's side earned a first-round by in the Skyline championship, and set a school record with a 14-match winning streak along the way. FSC will lift the lid on its 2023 campaign on Friday night, Sept. 1, when it plays host to Ramapo College of New Jersey at 7 p.m. from the Walter A. Lynch Sports Center.
