FSC Cruises Past Rutgers-Newark to Earn Sixth Straight Win

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - The FSC women's volleyball team recorded their sixth straight victory on Saturday morning, defeating non-conference opponent Rutgers-Newark, 3-0. The Rams improved to 7-7 overall with the victory.

Prior to today's match, senior setter Lexi Cavalieri (Lake Grove, N.Y.), who reached the 1,000 assist mark, and senior libero Madisyn Pozo (Bayside, N.Y.), who reached the 1,000 dig mark, were each honored and presented with volleyballs commemorating their milestones.

Farmingdale State cruised to the 3-0 sweep as they captured the first set 25-14 and followed with 25-13 victories in both the second and third sets to pick up the win.

Junior middle blocker Kalena Ricketts (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) led the Rams with 10 kills, a .562 hitting percentage and two block assists. Senior outside hitter Cathleen Farrell (Bayport, N.Y.) recorded seven kills, two service aces and six digs, while sophomore right side Jenya Surlin (East Meadow, N.Y.) tallied a career-high five kills.

Freshman middle Kaleigh Farrell (Holbrook, N.Y.) hit at a .444 clip and had a season-high four kills. Sophomore setter Molly Miller (East Northport, N.Y.) registered a season-best 14 assists, sophomore Lana Ventura (Port Washington, N.Y.) recorded a season-high eight digs, and senior right side Mikayla Dalton (Mineola, N.Y.) had six digs and two aces.

Freshman middle blocker Lauren Offermann (North Babylon, N.Y.) tallied a kill and two block assists, while both Kate Flamio (East Islip, N.Y.) and Madeline Stanley (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) added three kills apiece in the win.

The Scarlet Raiders (0-13) were led by Alexa Rivera, who recorded a team-high eight kills.

The Rams will next return to Skyline Conference action when they host St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Tuesday, October 12th at 7:00 p.m.
