Farmingdale State - 3; Manhattanville - 0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-18)

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Sophomore middle blocker Mikayla Profeta (Knoxville, Tenn.) scored a match-high 18.5 points on a .444 hitting percentage and career-high-tying five service aces Wednesday night at the Walter A. Lynch Sports Center, guiding the Farmingdale State College volleyball team to its fifth-consecutive win with a straight-sets Skyline Conference decision over visiting Manhattanville College (25-23, 25-22, 25-18).

Profeta led all players with a season-best 13 kills, while senior outside hitter Cathleen Farrell (Bayport, N.Y.) notched a double-double with 12 kills and a match-high 16 digs for the host Rams (6-7, 4-1 Skyline). Setters Danielle Marullo (Fr.; Patchogue, N.Y.) and Lexi Cavalieri (Lake Grove, N.Y.) guided FSC to a .164 attack percentage on 18 and 13 assists, respectively -- with Marullo's mark setting a career-high.

After the Valiants (11-3, 4-1) pulled to within a 17-15 score in the first set, Marullo served the next five points as FSC went in front by seven. Manhattanville collected seven of the next nine points, before a service error sent the hosts in front by a 1-0 count.

The second stanza featured nine ties and five lead changes, before Farmingdale State senior libero Madisyn Pozo (Bayside, N.Y.), who collected her 1,000th career dig earlier in the week, collected two aces over a six-serve stretch to push the Rams in front, 18-14. The visitors would get no closer than three the rest of the way, with FSC doubling their advantage in the match.

Manhattanville jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the third set, before the serving of Farrell, Profeta and Cavalieri pushed Farmingdale State in front at 14-11. Following her final kill of the night to put her side in front at 21-18, Profeta served out the rest of the match -- culminated by a solo block by senior outside hitter Kate Flamio (E. Islip, N.Y.) -- to complete the sweep for the home side.

Head coach Kellie Block's Rams are back in action Saturday morning (Oct. 8), when they play host to Rutgers University-Newark at 11 a.m.
