FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College volleyball team served a season-best 18 aces while hitting at a .301 clip for the second-consecutive match Thursday night at the Walter A. Lynch Sports Center, as the host Rams won their second match in as many outings this week with a straight-sets victory over Purchase College (25-10, 25-16, 25-14) in Skyline Conference play.

FSC (3-7, 2-1 Skyline) registered a 37-12-83 attacking line, including a career-best .500 percentage (13-1-24) from senior outside hitter Kate Flamio (E. Islip, N.Y.), while classmate Cathleen Farrell (Bayport, N.Y.) led all players for the second match in a row with 15 points on 12 kills (.364 hitting pct.) and three service aces. Farrell was one of four Rams to post three-plus points from the service line, including a career-high-tying five from senior libero Madisyn Pozo (Bayside, N.Y.) and a trio apiece from seniors Lexi Cavalieri (Lake Grove, N.Y.) and Mikayla Dalton (Mineola, N.Y.). Freshman Danielle Marullo (Patchogue, N.Y.) and sophomore Molly Miller (E. Northport, N.Y.) set 13 and 11 assists, respectively, leading a group of six players who registered helpers in the hosts' attack. All 16 Rams saw action on the evening, with 11 student-athletes recording points along the way.

Purchase (1-9, 1-2) jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the first set, before FSC took control for good with a 13-2 run behind three aces and two kills by Farrell.

In the second frame, Pozo's serving helped turn an 11-10 Farmingdale State deficit into a 13-11 lead that it would never relinquish. She also served four-consecutive points early in the third stanza to push the homestanding Rams in front for good, 8-3, before Dalton served out the final seven points of the match to close things out.

Head coach Kellie Block's FSC squad wraps up its three-match week at home on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 1), when it welcomes Pratt Institute for a 1 p.m. first serve.
