Volleyball Loses Skyline Opener at USMMA

KINGS POINT, N.Y. | The Farmingdale State College volleyball team received a match-best .348 hitting percentage from sophomore middle blocker Mikayla Profeta (Knoxville, Tenn.) Wednesday night at Liebertz Gymnasium, as the Rams dropped their Skyline Conference opener at defending champion U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, 3-0 (25-20, 26-24, 25-22).

Profeta led FSC (1-4, 0-1 Skyline) with 14.5 points on 11 kills, three assisted blocks and two service aces. Junior middle Kalena Ricketts (Cambria Hts., N.Y.) recorded 10 kills, while senior outside Cathleen Farrell (Bayport, N.Y.) contributed eight kills, seven digs and a match-high three service aces. Seniors Madisyn Pozo (Bayside, N.Y.) and Kate Flamio (E. Islip, N.Y.) passed 18 and 12 digs, respectively, while setters Lexi Cavalieri (Sr.; Lake Grove, N.Y.) and Danielle Marullo (Fr.; Patchogue, N.Y.) combined for 31 assists in distributing the Rams' offensive chances.

Head coach Kellie Block's Farmingdale State side is right back in action Thursday night, when it travels to Brooklyn College for a 6 p.m. first serve in non-conference play.
