Rams Drop Season Opener to Hunter College in Four Sets

Hunter - 3, Farmingdale State - 1 (25-13, 18-25, 25-18, 25-19)


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team hosted Hunter College in their 2022 season opener this evening and fell in four sets, 3-1. 

In the first, the Hawks (2-0) held a 12-11 edge and closed on a 13-2 run to secure the win, 25-13.

The Rams (0-1) bounced back in the second set, jumping out to a 17-12 advantage and eventual 25-18 victory.

Hunter responded in the third set, taking an early 7-1 lead and 25-18 decision. 

The Hawks closed the match with a 25-19 win in the fourth set as they earned the 3-1 match victory.

Sophomore middle blocker Mikayla Profeta (Knoxville, TN) led FSC with a team high 10 kills and .316 attacking percentage. Junior middle Kalena Ricketts (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) registered nine kills, three blocks, three digs and two assists, while senior outside hitter Cathleen Farrell (Bayport, N.Y.) tallied seven kills, a .300 hitting percentage, 11 digs and three service aces.

Junior outside Madeline Stanley (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) added five kills, nine digs and three blocks. Senior setter Lexi Cavalieri (Lake Grove, N.Y.) recorded 19 assists and two service aces for the Rams.

Hunter freshman setter Bethany Tomaneng (San Diego, Calif.) registered a double-double with a team-high 26 assists and 12 digs, to go along with five kills and one service ace. 

Farmingdale State next heads on the road to play non-conference opponent Drew on Thursday, September 8th at 7:00 p.m.
