FSC Falls to Manhattanville in Skyline Semifinals

#2 Manhattanville - 3, #3 Farmingdale State - 0 (25-7, 25-18, 25-17)


Purchase, N.Y. - The third-seeded Farmingdale State women's volleyball team traveled to #2 Manhattanville for the Skyline Conference Semifinals this evening and were defeated, 3-0. The Valiants ended FSC's eight-match winning streak and advance to the Finals at #1 Merchant Marine on Saturday.

The Rams (16-10) dropped the first set by a score of 25-7 and lost the second set, 25-18. In the third, Manhattanville (17-7) recorded a 25-17 victory to earn the three-set win.

Farmingdale State was led by freshman middle blocker Mikayla Profeta (West Islip, N.Y.) who tallied a team-high eight kills, while freshman outside Kate Flamio (East Islip, N.Y.) had five kills and nine digs. Senior libero Madisyn Pozo (Bayside, N.Y.) finished the night with a team-best 15 digs in the loss.

For the Valiants, senior outside Alejandra Figueroa (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) notched a match-high 10 kills to go along with four service aces, while freshman outside Ayla Ruiz (Honolulu, HI) added eight kills and five digs. Junior setter Vianca Vital (Carolina, Puerto Rico) recorded match-highs in both assists (24) and aces (5) in the win.

The Rams were eliminated from the playoffs and finished the season with a 16-10 record.
