Rams Defeat Sarah Lawrence in First Round of Skyline Championship

#3 Farmingdale State - 3, #6 Sarah Lawrence - 0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-20)


Farmingdale, N.Y. - Third-seeded Farmingdale State played host to #6 Sarah Lawrence in the First Round of the Skyline Conference Women's Volleyball Championship this evening and earned a 3-0 victory. 

The Rams (16-9) opened the night with a 25-15 win in the first set.

Tied 9-9 in the second set, freshman middle blocker Mikayla Profeta (West Islip, N.Y.) recorded three straight service aces to put FSC up by three. After a kill by freshman setter Molly Miller (East Northport, N.Y.), Profeta notched back-to-back aces to increase the advantage to 15-9. Farmingdale State went on for the 25-20 victory in the second set.

FSC closed out the match with a 25-20 win in the third set.

For the Rams, freshman middle blocker Kalena Ricketts (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) led the way as she tied her career-high with 15 kills, while Profeta had eight kills and a career-best five service aces. Junior outside Kate Flamio (East Islip, N.Y.) added 11 kills and 11 digs and senior libero Madisyn Pozo (Bayside, N.Y.) recorded a match-high 17 digs. Sophomore setter Lexi Cavalieri (Lake Grove, N.Y.) and Miller finished the evening with 21 and 16 assists, respectively.

The Gryphons (10-16) were led by sophomore Skyler Kawecki-Muonio (Kings Beach, Calif.) who had a team-high six kills. 

The Rams advance to the semifinals and will play at #2 Manhattanville on Thursday, November 4th at 7:00 p.m.
