Rams Earn Sweep Over Ramapo on Senior Day

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team played host to Ramapo College in a non-conference match this afternoon and earned a 3-0 win.

It was senior day at Farmingdale State as Emily Aldrich (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.), Rachel McCartin (Wantagh, N.Y.) and Madisyn Pozo (Bayside, N.Y) were each honored prior to the start of the match.

FSC (13-9) opened the first set with five straight points while McCartin was serving as they went on for a 25-17 win.

In the second set, the Rams scored 11 of the first 13 points, including two kills apiece from freshmen Cathleen Farrell (Bayport, N.Y.) and Kalena Ricketts (Cambria Heights, N.Y.), to take a commanding 11-2 advantage. Farmingdale State would go on for a 25-15 victory.

The Rams led 9-3 in the third set before the Roadrunners (6-14) went on an 11-4 run to go in front, 14-13. Aldrich answered with a kill to knot the score at 14-14, before a 6-3 run, including three service aces, put FSC in front, 20-17. Leading 24-20, a Ramapo attacking error clinched the set, 25-20, and the match, 3-0, for the Rams.

Farmingdale State freshman middle blocker Mikayla Profeta (West Islip, N.Y.) finished with a match-high 10 kills, .467 attacking percentage and five blocks, while Ricketts and Farrell recorded nine and eight kills, respectively. Pozo produced a match-high 20 digs, Aldrich added two kills and four blocks and McCartin registered a kill and eight digs. Sophomore setter Lexi Cavalieri (Lake Grove, N.Y.) tallied a match-high 17 assists in the win.

Ramapo was led by sophomore middle blocker Caleigh Golabek (Maywood, N.J.), who had six kills and five blocks.

The Rams next return to conference action when they host Yeshiva University on Tuesday, October 26th at 7:00 p.m.
