Farmingdale State Falls in Skyline Match at Manhattanville

Manhattanville - 3, Farmingdale State - 1 (25-16, 25-16, 23-25, 25-15)


Purchase, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team traveled to Manhattanville for a Skyline Conference match on Thursday night and fell, 3-1. The Rams suffered their first conference loss of the season and stand at 8-9 overall and 4-1 in Skyline play.

The Valiants (9-4, 3-1) captured the first two sets by scores of 25-16 before the Rams earned a 25-23 win in the third. Manhattanville closed out the match with a 25-15 victory in the fourth set.

FSC freshmen middle blockers Mikayla Profeta (West Islip, N.Y.) and Kalena Ricketts (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) each led the way with a team-high seven kills, while junior outside Kate Flamio (East Islip, N.Y.) had four kills and 15 digs. Junior libero Madisyn Pozo (Bayside, N.Y.) recorded a team-high 22 digs in the loss.

For the Valiants, junior middle blocker Hannah Pena (Goshen, N.Y.) and senior outside Alejandra Figueroa (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) tallied 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Junior setter Vianca Vital (Carolina, Puerto Rico) had a match-high 36 assists and freshman libero Grace Ballagas (Carolina, Puerto Rico) notched a match-high 29 digs in the win for Manhattanville. 

FSC next will play host to William Paterson in a non-conference match on Saturday, October 9th at noon.
