Farmingdale State Splits Pair at Wheaton Invitational

Norton, Mass. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team played two matches on the final day of the Wheaton College Invitational this afternoon and defeated Worcester State, 3-0, before falling to the host Lyons, 3-0.

FSC (2-5) played Worcester State (1-7) in the first match of the day and won in straight sets, 25-20, 25-21, 25-19.

Junior outside Kate Flamio (East Islip, N.Y.) led the way with eight kills, two service aces and four digs. Freshman middle hitter Kalena Ricketts (Cambria Heights, N.Y.) recorded seven kills and a solo block, while junior libero Madisyn Pozo (Bayside, N.Y.) tallied a match-high 20 digs. Sophomore setter Lexi Cavalieri (Lake Grove, N.Y.) notched 21 assists and freshman right side Molly Miller (East Northport, N.Y.) added five kills in the win.

Senior outside Natalie Gillis (Ashland, Mass.) had a match-high 10 kills for the Lancers.

The Rams played Wheaton (Mass.) (6-1) in their second match and lost 25-23 in the first set, before falling in the second and third sets by a score of 25-14.

Ricketts and freshman middle Mikayla Profeta (West Islip, N.Y.) registered seven kills apiece, while Cavalieri had 20 assists and Pozo recorded 11 digs. Junior outside Rachel McCartin (Wantagh, N.Y.) produced nine digs in defeat.

Lyons junior outside Bailey Madzryk (Barrington, Ill.) registered a match-high 11 kills in the victory.

Farmingdale State next returns home to play non-conference opponent Baruch on Tuesday, September 14th at 7:00 p.m.
