Flamio Tallies 21 Kills in Rams Victory Over Old Westbury

Farmingdale State - 3, Old Westbury - 1 (25-20, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21)


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The FSC women's volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory over Skyline opponent Old Westbury on Tuesday evening. Farmingdale State sophomore outside Kate Flamio (East Islip, N.Y.) held a .266 attacking percentage and tallied a career-high 21 kills.

In the opening set, the Rams (14-13, 6-4 Skyline) trailed 17-15 and closed on a 10-3 run to win the set, 25-20.

After Farmingdale State earned a 25-18 win in the second set, the Panthers (8-12, 3-7 Skyline) bounced back with a 25-23 victory in the third to cut their deficit to 2-1.

FSC trailed 11-10 in the fourth set but used an 8-0 run to go in front, 18-11. The Rams would go on to win the set, 25-21, and the match, 3-1.

Along with her career-high 21 kills, Flamio also registered 11 digs. Senior middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) produced 11 kills and a season-high five solo blocks, while freshman setter Lexi Cavalieri (Lake Grove, N.Y.) totaled 33 assists, 12 digs and two kills. Sophomore outside Rachel McCartin (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished with 21 digs and six kills and sophomore libero Madisyn Pozo (Bayside, N.Y.) recorded 23 digs, four assists, two aces and two kills in the victory.

Old Westbury was led by senior middle blocker Joelle Desrosiers (Bayside, N.Y.) who tallied 24 kills and 17 digs. 

The Rams next host conference opponent Sarah Lawrence on Thursday, October 31st at 7:00 p.m. on Senior Night.
