Women's Volleyball Drops Conference Match to Mount Saint Vincent

Mount Saint Vincent - 3, Farmingdale State - 1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-18)


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team hosted conference opponent Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday evening and fell, 3-1. With the loss, FSC dropped to 12-11 overall and 4-2 in the Skyline.

Tied at 22-22 in the first set, the Rams would use back-to-back kills from freshman middle blocker Ca'Marai Clyburn (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) and sophomore outside Kate Flamio (East Islip, N.Y.) followed by a Dolphins (11-6, 5-1 Skyline) attacking error to win the set, 25-22.

In the second set, CMSV led by two, 24-22, and used a kill from senior middle blocker Dez Brown (Riverhead, N.Y.) to win the set and tie the match at 1-1.

After the Dolphins jumped out to a 15-9 lead in set three, Mount Saint Vincent outscored the Rams, 10-5, the rest of the way to take the set, 25-14, and the lead, 2-1.

CMSV would close out the match with a 25-18 victory in the fourth set to earn the 3-1 Skyline Conference victory.

FSC was led by senior middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.), who recorded a match and season-high 18 kills, to go along with a .467 hitting percentage and three blocks. Flamio finished with seven kills and 12 digs, while sophomore outside Rachel McCartin (Wantagh, N.Y.) tallied seven kills and, two aces and 16 digs. Clyburn and freshman right side Mikayla Dalton (Mineola, N.Y.) each recorded three kills and freshman setter Lexi Cavalieri (Lake Grove, N.Y.) produced 28 assists and 13 digs in defeat.

Mount Saint Vincent outside hitters Samantha Schroeder (Mineola, N.Y.) and Tara Maloney (Williston Park, N.Y.) notched 17 and 14 kills, respectively.

The Rams next will travel to play Skyline opponent Manhattanville on Thursday, October 17th at 7:00 p.m.
