Rams Fall to Wilkes, Wesley in Quad Match

Dover, Del. - In a pair of non-conference matches at the Wesley (Del.) quad match this afternoon, Farmingdale State fell to Wilkes University, 3-1, before dropping a match to the host-school, 3-2. The FSC women's volleyball team now stands at 9-7 on the season.

In their first match against the Colonels (10-8), the Rams captured the first set, 25-21, but were edged out in the second set, 25-22. In the third set, Wilkes earned a 25-23 win before closing out the match with a 25-15 victory in the fourth set.

Senior middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) led the way for FSC with a team-high 10 kills and six blocks, while sophomore outside Kate Flamio (East Islip, N.Y.) registered nine kills, 14 digs and two aces. Freshman setter Lexi Cavalieri (Lake Grove, N.Y.) tallied 30 assists, 12 digs and two blocks, sophomore outside Rachel McCartin (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished with 11 digs and seven kills and sophomore libero Madisyn Pozo (Bayside, N.Y.) recorded a match-high 33 digs in defeat.

In their second match against the host Wolverines (9-8), Farmingdale State jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of two-point victories (26-24 and 25-23), but dropped the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-16, respectively. In the deciding fifth set, Wesley won 15-13 to pick up the 3-2 victory.

McCartin notched a double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs to go along with a team-high .423 attacking percentage. Junior middle blocker Alicja Zaborowska (Copiague, N.Y.) and freshman right side Mikayla Dalton (Mineola, N.Y.) added 10 kills apiece, while Voiklis and Flamio had nine and eight kills, respectively. Cavalieri tallied a career-high 37 assists in the loss.

Farmingdale State next returns to conference action as they travel to play Maritime on Tuesday, October 1st at 6:00 p.m.
