FSC Earns 3-1 Win Over John Jay

Farmingdale State - 3, John Jay - 1 (25-9, 25-14, 22-25, 25-19)


Dover, Del. - On the first day of the Wesley (Del.) College quad match, the Farmingdale State women's volleyball team squared off with John Jay and won, 3-1. With the win, the Rams improved to 9-5 overall, while the Bloodhounds fell to 1-7.

FSC cruised through the first two sets with 25-9 and 25-14 wins to take a 2-0 advantage. After John Jay answered with a 25-22 victory in set three to cut their deficit in half, the Rams captured the fourth set, 25-19, to take the match, 3-1.

Senior middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) led the way for Farmingdale State with a match-high nine kills and five blocks. Sophomore outside Kate Flamio (East Islip, N.Y.) registered seven kills, three blocks and two aces, while freshman setter Lexi Cavalieri (Lake Grove, N.Y.) had a match-high 18 assists. Junior middle blocker Alicja Zaborowska (Copiague, N.Y.) and sophomore outside Rachel McCartin (Wantagh, N.Y.) tallied seven kills apiece and sophomore libero Madisyn Pozo (Bayside, N.Y.) recorded a match-high 22 digs in the victory.

The Rams will now play two matches tomorrow, Saturday, September 28th. FSC will first play Wilkes at 10:00 a.m. and follow with a match against host-school Wesley at 2:00 p.m.
