Rams Pick Up Two Wins at Bard

Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team picked up two wins in a non-conference tri-match at Bard College this afternoon. The Rams started the day with a 3-1 victory over Bard before earning a 3-2 come-from-behind win against Mitchell College.

In their first match against the Raptors (3-3), FSC (5-4) won the first two sets by scores of 25-19 and 26-24. Bard took the third set 25-21, but FSC rebounded with a 25-17 victory in the fourth set to clinch the 3-1 win.

The Rams were led by sophomore outside Kate Flamio (East Islip, N.Y.), who had 14 kills and 12 digs, and junior middle blocker Alicja Zaborowska (Copiague, N.Y.), who recorded 10 kills, six service aces, six digs, two blocks and held a .500 attacking percentage. Senior middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) added 10 kills and two blocks, while sophomore outside Rachel McCartin (Wantagh, N.Y.) produced nine kills, two aces and 13 digs. Freshman setter Lexi Cavalieri (Lake Grove, N.Y.) had a career-high 32 assists, 13 digs and three aces in the win.

In their second match of the day, Mitchell (3-3) jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after winning the first two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-22. In the third set, Farmingdale State trailed 24-23 but used back-to-back kills from Voiklis and a kill from McCartin to win 26-24 and cut their deficit to 2-1. In the fourth set, FSC earned a convincing 25-15 victory before closing out the match with 15-13 win in the fifth to pick up the 3-2 win.

Flamio recorded 16 kills, 18 digs and four aces, while Voiklis and McCartin had 12 kills apiece. Sophomore libero Madisyn Pozo (Bayside, N.Y.) tallied a match-high 28 digs and freshman right side Mikayla Dalton (Mineola, N.Y.) recorded a season-high five kills and eight digs.

The FSC women's volleyball team next travels to William Paterson for a non-conference match on Tuesday, September 17th at 7:00 p.m.
