FSC Falls to Brooklyn, Ramapo in Non-Conference Tri-Match

Match 1: Brooklyn - 3, Farmingdale State - 1 (25-21, 15-25, 25-14, 25-21)

Match 2: Ramapo - 3, Farmingdale State - 0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-18)


Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team fell to non-conference opponents Brooklyn, 3-1, and Ramapo, 3-0, today in a home tri-match.

After splitting the first two sets in the opening match with Brooklyn (2-3), the Bulldogs took the third set 25-14 and completed the 3-1 win in the fourth with 25-21 victory.

For the Rams (2-3), junior middle blocker Alicja Zaborowska (Copiague, N.Y.) recorded 13 kills and a .480 attacking percentage, a mark that ranks ninth on the all-time record, while setters Maria Veliz Thol (Queens, N.Y.) and Lexi Cavalieri (Lake Grove, N.Y.) tallied 16 assists apiece. Sophomore outside Kate Flamio (East Islip, N.Y.) registered nine kills, nine digs and three service aces in the loss.

Brooklyn was led by sophomore Ezri Shor (Brooklyn, N.Y.), who had 15 kills, 14 assists and six digs, and freshman Madison Cronk (Lake Tahoe, Nev.), who produced 14 kills, 14 digs and three aces.

In the loss to Ramapo (2-0), the Roadrunners won the first set 25-15 and followed with back-to-back 25-18 wins in the second and third sets to record the sweep.

Sophomore outside Rachel McCartin (Wantagh, N.Y.) tallied a team-high eight kills and 12 digs, while senior middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) had five kills and four blocks.

FSC next travels to Lehman College for a non-conference match on Tuesday, September 10th starting at 7:00 p.m.
