FSC Athletics Fall Update #5

- Green named Runner of the Week; Duvenhorst tabbed Rookie of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #5 on Monday, October 1, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, men's golf, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

 

Cross Country Update - Men's Full Report  - Women's Full Report

The men's and women's cross country teams placed 11th and 21st, respectively, at the MSMC Invitational at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome last week.

Freshman Joshua Green (Shelter Island, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Runner of the Week after placing fourth out of 268 runners at Saturday's MSMC Invitational, completing the 8K loop in a time of 28:46.

This week Farmingdale State will head to Branch Brook Park in Newark, N.J. for the Highlander XC Challenge on Saturday.

 

Women's Soccer Update (6-2-1, 1-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

FSC was 1-0 last week after an 8-0 home victory over Old Westbury.

Freshman midfielder Kayla Duvenhorst (Levittown, N.Y.) earned Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week honors. Duvenhorst collected the first two goals of her intercollegiate career in the first half of the Rams' clean-sheet victory over visiting Old Westbury on Saturday. She also added an assist in the second half of action for a game-high five points.

The women's soccer team will play four games this week: Monday at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn @ 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at Purchase @ 6:00 p.m., Saturday at #2 Williams @ noon and Sunday vs. #20 Swarthmore @ 1:00 p.m.

 

Men's Soccer Update (5-4, 1-1 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In their only game last week, the men's soccer team earned a 2-0 Skyline Conference win over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn.

Senior midfielder William Grajales (Cali, Colombia) earned a spot on the Honor Roll after assisting both goals in FSC's win over SJC-BK.

This week the Rams are slated to play two home games: Thursday vs. Purchase @ 4:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. Merchant Marine @ noon.

 

Women's Tennis Update (7-2, 1-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The women's tennis team defeated St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, 8-1, in their lone match last week. This week Farmingdale State will play three conference matches: Tuesday vs. Mount Saint Mary @ 6:00 p.m., Thursday at Purchase @ 5:00 p.m. and Saturday at Sarah Lawrence @ noon.

 

Women's Volleyball Update (5-14, 2-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The Rams posted an even 2-2 mark in four matches last week. FSC earned 3-0 Skyline Conference victories over both Mount Saint Mary and Sarah Lawrence.

Junior middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) was named to the Player of the Week Honor Roll after hitting .443 (38-7-76) and adding 19 total blocks.

The women's volleyball team is scheduled to play three matches this week: Tuesday vs. NYU @ 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at Mount Saint Vincent @ 11:00 a.m. and vs. Purchase (at Mount Saint Vincent) @ 1:00 p.m.

 

Men's Golf Update - Skyline Full Report

The FSC Fall Invitational at Bethpage Red was cancelled last week due to rain. This week the Rams will travel to The Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown, Penn. for the McDaniel Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
