FSC Athletics Fall Update #3

- Fischer named Player of the Week; Tzanetos tabbed Rookie of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #3 on Monday, September 17, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, men's golf, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Men's Golf Update - Skyline Full Report

At the season opening MSMC Skyline Invitational held at The Powelton Club, Farmingdale State posted a team total of 304 and earned a seven-stroke victory over runner-up Mount Saint Mary.

Senior Chris Fischer (Mineola, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. He posted a tournament-low score of 71 to lead the Rams and claim medalist honors.

This week the men's golf team will travel to Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort in Shawnee on Delaware, Pennsylvania for the 2018 Montgomery Cup hosted by Rosemont College on Saturday and Sunday.

 

Women's Tennis Update (5-1, 0-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The women's tennis team posted a 2-0 mark last week with non-conference wins over Western Connecticut State (6-3) and Lehman (5-4).

Freshman Nicole Tzanetos (Merrick, N.Y.) earned Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week honors. She went undefeated at #2 doubles and #3 singles over two matches last week. Tzanetos posted identical 6-2, 6-1 decisions in singles action against Western Connecticut and Lehman and is now 5-0 in singles play this season.

FSC will play two matches at Oneonta this Saturday: They will square off against Oneonta at 10:00 a.m. and face SUNY Delhi at 3:00 p.m.

 

Men's Soccer Update (3-2, 0-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In two games last week, Farmingdale State earned victories over Hunter (2-1) and John Jay (1-0 / 2OT).

Senior goalkeeper Scott Flores (Commack, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after allowing only one goal on 15 shot attempts last week.

This week the men's soccer team will play three road games: Wednesday at Manhattanville @ 4:00 p.m., Saturday at Old Westbury @ noon and Sunday at Hartwick @ 1:00 p.m.

 

Women's Soccer Update (4-2-1, 0-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

The women's soccer team was 0-1-1 in a pair of non-conference games last week. FSC and Scranton finished in a 1-1 tie on Friday before the Rams fell, 3-0, versus SUNY Geneseo on Saturday.

This week Farmingdale State will travel to Western Connecticut State for their lone game on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.

 

Women's Volleyball Update (3-10, 0-0 Skyline) - Skyline Full Report

In four matches last week, the Rams were 2-2 with victories over both Staten Island (3-1) and Baruch (3-2).

Junior middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) was named to the Skyline Conference Player of the Week Honor Roll. Voiklis had a 13-kill effort Wednesday night against Baruch, adding five service aces and a season-best nine total blocks.

This week the women's volleyball team is scheduled to play two matches: Tuesday vs. Hunter @ 6:00 p.m. and Thursday at Moravian @ 7:00 p.m.
