Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team hosted William Paterson and Keystone College in a non-conference tri-match this afternoon. The Rams fell in straight sets versus William Paterson and were defeated, 3-1, by Keystone in the final match of the day.
The Pioneers (9-0) captured the first set 25-12 and followed with 25-6 and 25-12 victories to cap off the sweep.
FSC (3-10) was led freshman outside Kate Flamio (East Islip, N.Y.) who had six kills and six digs, while senior outside Annie Cosgrave (Brightwaters, N.Y.) and junior middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) each tallied three kills. Freshman setter Angie Yarrow (Absecon, N.J.) had a team-high 18 assists in the loss.
For WP, senior middle Chelliah Phillips (Bergenfield, N.J.) and junior middle Alyson Toman (Secaucus, N.J.) each recorded a match-high 10 kills and senior setter Kendall Caruso (Secaucus, N.J.) paced the Pioneers with 29 assists.
In the match versus Keystone (3-8), FSC won the first set, 25-22, before dropping the next three by scores of 25-17, 25-11 and 25-23.
Cosgrave notched a season-high 11 kills to go along with 11 digs and two blocks, while Flamio and Voiklis each had six kills. Flamio also had a team-high 15 digs and Voiklis recorded a match-leading six blocks. Yarrow finished the game with 25 assists and seven digs.
Keystone had four players with double digit kills: Kristen Larkin (Williamstown, N.J.) (13), Victoria Homfeld (Smithtown, N.Y.) (12), Taylor Beatty (Virginia Beach, Va.) (11) and Erika Schwoyer (Bethlehem, Penn.) (11). Junior middle blocker Amanda Hardy (Tunkhannock, Penn.) had a match-high 40 assists in the four-set victory for Keystone.
The Rams next will host Hunter College in a non-conference match on Tuesday, September 18th at 6:00 p.m.
