Farmingdale State Earns Four-Set Victory Over Staten Island

Farmingdale State - 3, Staten Island - 1 (25-18, 17-25, 25-9, 25-17)


Farmingdale, N.Y. - After splitting the first two sets, the Farmingdale State women's volleyball team earned a convincing 25-9 win in the third and followed with a 25-17 victory in the fourth to secure a 3-1 non-conference defeat of The College Staten Island this evening. The Rams earned their second win of the season to improve to 2-8, while the Dolphins fell to 4-3 on the year.

FSC was led by junior middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) who recorded 13 kills and six blocks, while senior outside Annie Cosgrave (Brightwaters, N.Y.) tallied 17 digs and 10 kills. Freshman outside Kate Flamio (East Islip, N.Y.) totaled 12 digs, 11 kills, four service aces and three blocks and freshman setter Angie Yarrow (Absecon, N.J.) registered a career-high 36 assists in the win.

Dolphins' junior right side Francesca Castellano (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) produced a team-high 16 digs and eight kills, while freshman setter Arianna Spears (Questa, N.M.) recorded 20 assists, 10 digs and two service aces in the loss. 

Farmingdale State next hosts Baruch for a non-conference match on Thursday, September 13th at 7:00 p.m.
