Farmingdale State Falls to Bard, Goucher at Haverford Invitational

Haverford, Penn. - At the final day of the Haverford Invitational, the Farmingdale State women's volleyball team fell to non-conference opponent Bard in five sets before dropping their second match to Goucher, 3-0.

In their first match against Bard (1-3), the Rams (0-4) won the opening set, 25-17, but lost in the second and third, 25-19 and 25-17, respectively. After Farmingdale State captured the fourth set, 25-23, the Raptors took the deciding fifth set by a score of 16-14.

FSC was led by junior middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) who recorded a team-high 12 kills and nine blocks. Senior outside Annie Cosgrave (Brightwaters, N.Y.) tallied 10 kills and three blocks, while freshman setter Angie Yarrow (Absecon, N.J.) produced 28 assists in the loss.

Freshman outside Storm Bookhard (New York, N.Y.) registered a game-high 13 kills for Bard.

In the loss to Goucher (2-3), the Gophers won the first set 25-22 and followed with 25-23 and 25-14 victories to close out the three-set sweep of the Rams.

FSC freshman outside Kate Flamio (East Islip, N.Y.) finished with nine kills, five digs and three blocks, while Cosgrave tallied eight kills and eight digs.

Freshman setter Tes DeJaeger (Norwalk, Conn.) recorded a game-high 36 assists for Goucher in the victory.

Farmingdale State next hosts Medgar Evers for a non-conference match on Tuesday, September 4th at 6:00 p.m.
