New York, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team completed their regular season schedule this afternoon with a pair of conference matches against Yeshiva and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn and won both games, 3-0. FSC caps their season riding a program record 13-game winning streak as they finish a perfect 10-0 in conference play and have earned the #1 seed heading into the playoffs under first year head coach Kristy Nix.
The Rams (20-7) dominated the first match versus host school Yeshiva (1-15, 1-9), winning the first three sets by scores of 25-9, 25-13 and 25-7.
As a team, FSC tallied a season-high .356 hitting percentage. Sophomore setter Julia Hande (Islip, N.Y.) recorded 12 kills and a .786 percentage, while junior outside Meaghan Moran (Islip, N.Y.) totaled 10 kills. Junior setter Lauren Anne Strezenec (Merrick, N.Y.) produced a double-double with match-high's in both assists (32) and digs (16) along with six serving aces for Farmingdale State.
In the second match of the day against St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, the Rams earned a set one victory 25-20 to take the early 1-0 advantage.
Tied at 24-24 in the second set, Hande registered a kill, from Strezenec, and a service ace to give FSC the 26-24 set two win. Farmingdale State cruised through the third set with a 25-13 victory as they completed the sweep of the Bears (8-13, 4-6), 3-0.
Hande recorded her fourth triple-double of the season, totaling 13 kills, 16 assists and 11 digs, while middle blocker's Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) and Maia Cadle-Hinton (Huntington, N.Y.) each tallied seven kills in the victory for the Rams.
For St. Joe's-Brooklyn, sophomore setter Paige Csikortos (Rocky Point, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with 16 assists and 14 digs.
FSC has earned a first round bye heading into the Skyline Conference Women's Volleyball Championship. The Rams will next host the Conference semifinals on Thursday, November 2nd at 7:00 p.m.
