
Farmingdale State - 3, Mount Saint Vincent - 2 (25-22, 25-18, 19-25, 23-25, 20-18)
Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team earned a 20-18 victory in the deciding fifth set for a 3-2 win over Skyline opponent Mount Saint Vincent this evening in Farmingdale, N.Y. Prior to the game, FSC's four seniors, Samantha Coq (Hempstead, N.Y.), Lauren Anne Strezenec (Merrick, N.Y.), Stephanie Etersque (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Maia Cadle-Hinton (Huntington, N.Y.), were each honored as they played in their final regular season home game.
After the Rams (18-7, 8-0 Skyline) earned 25-22 and 25-18 wins in the first two sets, the Dolphins (16-11, 8-2) responded by tallying victories in the next two sets to even the match at 2-2.
Mount Saint Vincent led 12-10 in the fifth set before Farmingdale State recorded kills from sophomore setter Julia Hande (Islip, N.Y.) and Cadle-Hinton to tie the game at 12-12.
Later in the set with the Rams ahead 18-17, a kill from MSV sophomore outside Tara Maloney (Williston Park, N.Y.) again evened the score. FSC followed with a Cadle-Hinton kill and the match-winning service ace by Hande to cap off the 20-18 five-set victory.
Hande, who is currently ranked eighth in the nation for triple-doubles, recorded her third of the season with 16 kills, 19 digs and 18 assists, while also adding five blocks for Farmingdale State. Cadle-Hinton had 15 kills and junior outside Annie Cosgrave (Brightwaters, N.Y.) totaled eight kills and 17 digs. Strezenec finished the night with 25 assists and 12 digs, while Etersque had a match-high 23 digs for the Rams.
For Mount Saint Vincent, Maloney registered a match-high 24 kills to go with 15 digs and three aces, while Leineweber added 15 kills and 17 digs. Senior setter Nicole Henderson (Bergenfield, N.J.) recorded a game-high 45 assists in the loss for Mount Saint Vincent.
The Rams next travel to Baruch College for a conference tri-match hosted by Yeshiva University on Sunday, October 29th starting at 11:00 a.m. FSC will first square off against Yeshiva and follow with a match versus St. Joseph's-Brooklyn.
