
Moravian - 3, Farmingdale State - 2 (25-14, 18-25, 25-20, 21-25, 15-12)
Farmingdale, N.Y. - In a single match this evening versus non-conference foe Moravian College, the Farmingdale State women's volleyball team fell 3-2 in a five set dual. FSC drops to 5-3 this season, while the Greyhounds improve to 6-7.
The Greyhounds captured the first set 25-14, before the Rams evened the match with a 25-18 set two victory. The third set went to Moravian, 25-20, and the fourth was won by Farmingdale State to force a fifth and deciding set.
Tied at 7-7 in set five, Rams senior middle blocker Maia Cadle-Hinton (Huntington, N.Y.) tallied a kill and a solo block to put FSC up 9-7. After sophomore setter Julia Hande (Islip, N.Y.) recorded a service ace to put Farmingdale State up by three, 10-7, Greyhounds junior middle blocker Erin Tiger (Port Murray, N.J.) and senior outside Mary Zacher (Allentown, Penn.) combined to score the games next seven points on kills assisted by sophomore setter Victoria Kauffman (Monroe Township, N.Y.) to take the lead 14-10.
Kauffman tallied the final point of the match on a kill assisted by junior defensive specialist Bridgette Devlin (Media, Penn.) as Moravian took the fifth set, 15-12, and the match, 3-2.
Kauffman totaled a game-high 55 assists, while Zacher produced game-highs in both service aces (3) and kills (26).
For Farmingdale State, junior setter Lauren Anne Strezenec (Merrick, N.Y.) recorded a team-high 32 assists, while Hande had 14 kills and 22 digs. Cadle-Hinton and sophomore middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) each recorded seven blocks in defeat.
FSC next heads to the Roadrunner Invitational on Friday, September 22nd for a pair of non-conference matches against Middlebury and host school Ramapo starting at 5:00 p.m.
