Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State sophomore setter Julia Hande (Islip, N.Y.) recorded a pair of triple-doubles in today's non-conference women's volleyball tri-match, but it was not enough as the Rams dropped both matches, 3-1, to Manhattanville and Ramapo.
In the first match against Manhattanville (5-1), the Rams (2-2) lost the first two sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-21. FSC was able to win the third set 25-19, but the Valiants won the fourth by five points, 25-20, for the 3-1 win.
FSC was led by Hande's 13 kills, 19 digs, 23 assists and six assisted blocks. Senior middle blocker Maia Cadle-Hinton (Huntington, N.Y.) tallied 11 kills, nine digs and seven blocks, while junior outside Annie Cosgrave (Brightwaters, N.Y.) and junior setter Lauren Anne Strezenec (Merrick, N.Y.) each recorded 15 digs in the loss.
Valiants freshman libero Monica Lopez (Caguas, Puerto Rico) recorded game-high's with 28 digs and four serving aces.
In the second match of the day, Ramapo (3-1) and FSC split the first two sets, before the Roadrunners were able to win two straight for the 3-1 victory.
Hande tallied 14 kills, 16 assists, 17 digs and five blocks in her second triple-double of the afternoon. Rams sophomore middle blocker Kelsey Voiklis (Commack, N.Y.) produced a game-high six blocks, while Cadle-Hinton had five kills and 10 digs.
Ramapo senior outside Larysa Iwaskiw (Westwood, N.J.) and sophomore setter Kate Shirkey (Roxbury, N.J.) recorded match-high's with 29 kills and 33 assists, respectively.
Manhattanville and Ramapo squared off in the other match this afternoon and the Valiants came away with a 3-0 sweep of the Roadrunners.
Farmingdale State next travels to play Lehman College on Tuesday, September 12th at 6:00 p.m.
