New York, N.Y. - After voting was conducted by the league's 12 head coaches, the Skyline Conference released the 2016 women's volleyball All-Conference teams.
Freshman setter Julia Hande (Islip, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Year, while junior middle blocker Maia Cadle-Hinton (Huntington, N.Y.) earned First Team All-Conference honors. Head Coach David Mayerson, in his first season at the helm, was tabbed the Coach of the Year.
Hande helped the Rams to a 19-7 record and the team's first-ever Skyline Conference Championship title Saturday (Nov. 5) with a 3-0 sweep over U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The Championship's Most Outstanding Player, Hande enters the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship averaging 3.8 points per set, while ranking fifth and sixth in the Skyline in kills per set (2.80) and hitting percentage (.224), respectively, in FSC's 6-2 offense.
Cadle-Hinton appeared in 24-of-26 matches and led the team with 78 blocks. Her 1.03 blocks per set led the Skyline Conference. Cadle-Hinton also ranked fifth on FSC in both kills (130) and service aces (29).
Farmingdale State's David Mayerson was named the Coach of the Year. Mayerson, a 2009 graduate of Brooklyn College, led the Rams to a 19-7 mark and the conference title in his first year at the helm – all away from the friendly confines of Nold Hall, which has been under construction this season.
