Skyline Releases Fall Weekly Report #6

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #6 on Tuesday, October 11, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Cross Country Update - Full Report

At the 13th Annual Technology XC Challenge hosted by NJIT this past weekend, the women placed fourth of 20 and the men placed ninth of 21 teams.

Freshmen James O'Brien (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Erin Lettieri (West Islip, N.Y.) were each named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week. O'Brien led the Rams to a ninth-place finish at the 13th Annual Technology XC Challenge, placing eighth with a time of 26:55.85. Lettieri, who earned her second weekly honor of the season, placed 19th individually in a time of 20:12.44.

The cross country teams next will travel to Sunken Meadow State Park for the 17th Annual St. Joseph's Invitational on Saturday, October 15th.

Women's Volleyball Update (9-6, 5-1 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams were a perfect 3-0 last week with victories over Medgar Evers (3-0), Merchant Marine (3-1) and St. Joseph's-LI (3-2).

Freshman setter Julia Hande (Islip, N.Y.) earned Rookie of the Week honors. Hande posted big numbers in the Rams' 6-2 offense, helping FSC to a 3-0 record (2-0 Skyline). She averaged 3.42 kills (.253 hitting pct.), 3.08 assists, 0.5 service aces, 0.42 total blocks and 1.75 digs per set. Hande picked up a four-set triple-double with 14 kills, 16 assists, 11 digs and three total blocks against U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Also on Saturday, she finished one dig shy of a five-set triple double in a triumph over St. Joseph's-Long Island, picking up a match-high 21 kills to go with 14 assists and nine digs.

This week the volleyball team will play three matches: Tuesday at William Paterson @ 7:00 p.m., Friday at John Jay @ 6:00 p.m. and Saturday vs. Mount Saint Mary (at Purchase @ noon).

Women's Tennis Update (9-4, 5-1 Skyline) - Full Report

FSC earned a 7-0 victory over Sarah Lawrence in their lone match of the week.

Senior Priscilla Signore (Staten Island, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Signore was honored for the second time this year as she helped the Rams to a 7-0 shutout over Sarah Lawrence, dropping just a trio of games along the way. Signore swept her No. 1 singles match by a score of 6-2 and 6-0 and dropped just one game in an 8-1 triumph at No. 1 doubles against the Gryphons.

The women's tennis team will play one home match this week: Friday vs. Mount Saint Mary @ 4:00 p.m.

Men's Golf Update

Last week, the Rams competed at The Powelton Club on Friday for the MSMC Invitational. FSC (316) placed second of five as senior Matt Burnett (Farmingdale, N.Y) led the way with a 73 and a runner-up finish individually.

This week the men's golf team will head to Bellport Country Club on Friday for the St. Joseph's-LI Invitational.

Women's Soccer Update (6-6-3, 6-0 Skyline) - Full Report

In their only game last week, FSC tallied an 8-0 home win over Yeshiva.

Junior forward Taylor Howard (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) was named to the Honor Roll after scoring the second and third goals in FSC's win against Yeshiva.

The Rams will play three games this week: Wednesday vs. Stevens @ 5:00 p.m., Friday at Maritime @ 5:00 p.m. and Saturday at Skidmore @ 2:30 p.m.

Men's Soccer Update (6-5, 5-1 Skyline) - Full Report

FSC fell, 2-0, at Mount Saint Mary in their only contest of the week.

Farmingdale State has two games this week as they travel to Maritime on Wednesday @ 7:30 p.m. and host Merchant Marine on Saturday @ 2:00 p.m.
