Pomarico & Mastrangelo III named Player's of the Week


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #5 on Monday, October 3, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Women's Soccer Update (5-6-3, 5-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The women's soccer team recorded three conference victories (Mount Saint Vincent, Sarah Lawrence & Mount Saint Mary) in a 3-0 week.

Sophomore midfielder Destiny Pomarico (West Babylon, N.Y.) was named Skyline Player of the Week as she paced the Rams, who sit atop the Skyline standings with 15 points. Pomarico netted a goal and added an assist versus Mount Saint Vincent and bagged two goals (including the game-winner) and an assist against Sarah Lawrence. She also dished out two assists in FSC's win over Mount Saint Mary.

Farmingdale State will play one game this week when they host Yeshiva on Friday at 11:00 a.m.

Men's Soccer Update (6-4, 5-0 Skyline) - Full Report

FSC tallied wins over both Yeshiva (1-0) and Sarah Lawrence (3-1) in a 2-0 week.

Sophomore forward Richard Mastrangelo III (Dix Hills, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. He netted a pair of goals in as many contests for the Rams, who moved to 5-0 in conference action. Mastrangelo's 77th-minute tally on Friday versus Yeshiva was the lone goal in the match and he opened the scoring in a 3-1 triumph over Sarah Lawrence.

This week the men's soccer team will travel to Mount Saint Mary on Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Cross Country Update - Full Report

At the LIU Post Invitational, the women carded a runner-up finish and the men took fifth place for FSC.

For the women, junior Nicole Franz (Huntington, N.Y.) placed seventh in 20:11.41 and freshman James O'Brien (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) recorded an eighth place finish in 27:14.33 for the men.

This week the cross country teams will head to Branch Brook Park in Newark, N.J. for the Highlander Challenge on Saturday.

Women's Tennis Update (8-4, 4-1 Skyline) - Full Report

In FSC's lone match of the week, the Rams earned an 8-1 Skyline victory over St. Joe's-Bklyn.

Junior Qurat-ul-ain Rai (Lahore, Pakistan) was named to the Honor Roll after winning both her #3 singles (6-0, 6-0) and first doubles (8-1) matches.

The women's tennis team will visit Sarah Lawrence in their only match this week on Saturday at noon.

Women's Volleyball Update (6-6, 3-1 Skyline) - Full Report

The women's volleyball team posted a 1-2 record in three non-conference matches with the win coming against Utica.

The Rams will play three matches this week: Thursday at Medgar Evers @ 7:00 p.m. and two matches on Saturday at Merchant Marine (Merchant Marine - 11:00 a.m. & St. Joe's-LI - 1:00 p.m.)

Men's Golf Update

After having last week off, the men's golf team returns to action on Friday at the Mount Saint Mary Invitational held at The Powelton Club in Newburgh, N.Y.
