Skyline Releases Fall Weekly Report #3

New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #3 on Monday, September 19, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Women's Volleyball Update (3-3, 2-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The women's volleyball team was 2-1 last week with a pair of Skyline Conference victories over St. Joe's-Bklyn and Yeshiva.

Senior outside Christina Hickey (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) was named Player of the Week after hitting .425, averaging 2.44 kills, 1.78 digs, 0.44 blocks and 0.33 aces per set. In a Skyline tri-match against Yeshiva and host school St. Joe's-Bklyn, she combined to hit 16-1-20 (.750) on the afternoon with eight kills and five digs in each contest. Hickey currently leads the conference with a .324 hitting percentage.

This week FSC will travel to Lehman on Tuesday @ 7:00 p.m. and host their Skyline tri-match (at Nassau Community College) on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Women's Tennis Update (5-3, 1-1 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams posted a 2-0 mark last week with victories over both John Jay and Purchase.

Junior Qurat-ul-ain Rai (Lahore, Pakistan) earned Player of the Week honors as she won both #3 singles matches in straight sets and captured both doubles matches. Rai took a 6-3, 6-1 decision in singles action to go with an 8-3 victory at #1 doubles versus John Jay. She followed the next day with a 6-4, 6-1 singles triumph after earning an 8-4 win at second doubles against Purchase.

The women's tennis team will play three matches this week: Wednesday vs. St. Joseph's-LI @ 4:00 p.m., Thursday vs. Oneonta @ 5:00 p.m. and Saturday at Sage @ 1:00 p.m.

Men's Golf Update

In their second event of the season, the Rams finished third out of 13 teams at the Penn State Harrisburg Invitational held at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course.

Sophomore Chris Fischer (Mineola, N.Y.) placed eighth after recording back-to-back 74's.

This week the Rams will host the FSC Skyline Invitational at Bethpage Red on Friday.

Cross Country Update - Full Report

At the Bard Raptors Invitational, the women's and men's cross country teams placed third and seventh, respectively.

Junior Nicole Franz (Huntington, N.Y.) led the women with an 11th place finish, while freshman James O'Brien (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) took a team-best sixth for the men.

FSC returns to action on October 1st at the LIU Post Invitational.

Men's Soccer Update (2-4, 1-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's soccer team opened Skyline Conference play last week and tallied a 3-0 home victory over Purchase.

This week FSC will play a pair of conference road games: Tuesday at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (at Aviator Field @ 5:00 p.m.) and Saturday at Sage (at Albany College of Pharmacy @ 1:00 p.m.).

Women's Soccer Update (0-5-3, 0-0 Skyline) - Full Report

The Rams were 0-2-1 in three non-conference games last week.

Farmingdale State will host Old Westbury on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. and travel to Purchase on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and Amherst on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
