Montclair, N.J. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team traveled to play in the Montclair State Invitational on Saturday, September 10th. The Rams fell 3-1 to Montclair State and 3-2 to Mt. Aloysius.
Against Montclair, sophomore outside Annie Cosgrave (Bay Shore, N.Y.) led the team with seven kills, while also posting 10 digs. Junior libero Stephanie Etersque (Deer Park, N.Y.) finished with 11 digs while sophomore setter Lauren Anne Strezenec (Merrick, N.Y.) tallied 12 assists and 10 digs.
In the match versus Mt. Aloysius, the Rams went to five sets. After losing the first two sets, 25-23 and 26-24, they took set three and four with wins of 25-16 and 25-19, respectively. In the fifth and deciding set, Mt. Aloysius edged Farmingdale State 15-10.
Freshman setter Julia Hande (Islip, N.Y.) posted a game-high 20 kills, along with 15 assists. Strezenec finished with a career and game-high 32 assists. Etersque had a team-high 18 digs and Cosgrave posted 14 digs and 11 kills. Senior outside Christina Hickey (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) finished in double figures in kills with 12.
The Rams will now travel to face Rutgers-Newark on Thursday, September 15th for a non-conference match at 7:00 p.m.
