Rams Drop Pair; Enter Playoffs as #5 Seed

Game 1: St. Joseph's-LI - 3, Farmingdale State - 0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-19)

Game 2: Mount Saint Mary - 3, Farmingdale State - 1 (28-26, 25-12, 14-25, 26-24)


Patchogue, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's volleyball team ended the regular season with a pair of loses to both St. Joseph's-LI and Mount Saint Mary at the St. Joseph's College tri-match this afternoon. The Rams earned the #5 seed for the upcoming Skyline Conference playoffs.

In the opening match against St. Joseph's-LI, the Rams (13-13, 6-4) were defeated in three sets. The Golden Eagles won the first set 25-15 and followed with 25-16 and 25-19 victories for the sweep.

Farmingdale State freshman middle blocker Elizabeth Mielko (Dix Hills, N.Y.) recorded a team-leading six kills, while freshman outside Annie Cosgrave (Bay Shore, N.Y.) had five kills and a team-high six digs. Junior middle blocker Barbara Wright (Farmingdale, N.Y.) pitched in with a game-high four blocks, two kills and an ace.

St. Joe's (16-14, 8-1) was led by senior middle hitter Heather Ferchland's (Selden, N.Y.) eight kills along with game-high's in assists (26) and digs (12) from junior setter Courtney Wickline (Medford, N.Y.)

In the second match of the day versus Mount Saint Mary, the Rams fell, 3-1.

Hickey tallied a game-high 11 kills and added six aces, while Cosgrave had a game-leading 16 digs and six kills. Wright and junior middle blocker Katie DeGraff (Amityville, N.Y.) each had seven kills and senior setter Megan Pisciotta (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) totaled a game-high 21 assists.

Farmingdale State has earned the #5 seed for the upcoming playoffs. The Rams will travel to #4 St. Joseph's-LI for their First Round matchup on Tuesday, November 3rd. The other First Round match features #6 Maritime at #3 Mount Saint Mary.

The winner of the FSC/SJC match will head to #1 Mount Saint Vincent, while the MT/MSMC winner will travel to #2 Sage - both Semifinal games are on Thursday, November 5th. The Skyline Conference Finals will take place on Saturday, November 7th at the site of the highest remaining seed.
