- Liguori, Gomes & Wright named Player of the Week -


New York, N.Y. - The Skyline Conference released the Fall weekly report #6 on Monday, October 12, including Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Honor Roll and Conference statistics for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

Women's Tennis Update (9-2, 5-0 Skyline) - Full Report

In their only match last week; Farmingdale State earned an 8-1 conference victory over Yeshiva.

Senior Denise Liguori (Massapequa, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. Liguori's efforts helped the Rams to an 8-1 victory over Yeshiva – which was previously unbeaten in Skyline play. She has won nine-consecutive singles matches, including a 6-love, 6-1 victory at No. 5 versus the Macs' Lindsay Frucher. Liguori also teamed with Madison Schrader (East Islip, N.Y.) for an 8-2 victory in the No. 3 doubles flight.

The Rams will host two Skyline Conference matches to close out the regular season this week: Purchase (Senior Day) @ 4:30 p.m. & St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Saturday @ 3:00 p.m.

Women's Volleyball Update (9-8, 4-0 Skyline) - Full Report

FSC was 2-1 in a three matches last week after earning wins over Lehman and Cazenovia.

Junior middle blocker Barbara Wright (Farmingdale, N.Y.) earned Player of the Week honors. Wright was in on 15 total blocks (nine sets), good for a 1.67 per-set average in the Rams' 2-1 non-conference week. In the straight-set triumph over Cazenovia, she led Farmingdale State with nine kills and seven blocks, while also hitting .372 with an average of 2.33 kills per set.  Wright's 0.84 blocks per set average leads the Skyline, while her .326 hitting percentage ranks second.

This week the Rams will face Mount Saint Vincent (1PM) and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (3PM) at the St. Joe's-Brooklyn Tri-Match on Saturday.

Women's Soccer Update (6-5-2, 4-1 Skyline) - Full Report

The women's soccer team was 1-0-1 last week highlighted by a 0-0 tie at #1 Messiah.

Freshman goalkeeper Karla Gomes (Carle Place, N.Y.) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week. In her first-career start, Gomes' 13-save effort at top-ranked Messiah helped the Rams to earn a 0-0 draw. She turned aside seven Falcons shots in the second half and one additional effort in overtime.

This week Farmingdale State will travel to Old Westbury on Friday at 3:00 p.m. and host Skidmore for Senior Day on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

Men's Golf Update

The men's golf team captured the 7-team Mount Saint Mary College Invitational on Friday as senior Dillon Flynn (Plainedge, N.Y.) led the way with a career-best round if 71. At the NYU Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Farmingdale State placed T5 and senior Scott Sessions (Pleasantville, N.Y.) finished third with rounds of 69 and 79.

The Rams wrap up the fall season at the Skyline Conference Championship on Sunday and Monday. This year's championship will be held at Brynwood Golf & Country Club in Armonk, N.Y.

Cross Country Update - Full Report

At last week's CCNY Invitational, the women placed seventh and the men recorded an eighth place finish. Freshman Chris Mueller (Mineola, N.Y.) took 36th place to lead the men in 31:56, while sophomore Nicole Franz's (Huntington, N.Y.) 30th place finish in 27:16 led the women's team.

This week the Rams will compete at the St. Joseph's Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, N.Y. on Saturday.

Men's Soccer Update (6-6, 3-2 Skyline) - Full Report

The men's soccer team dropped a pair of matches to NYU and Yeshiva last week.

The Rams will play three games this week: Wednesday - home vs. Old Westbury @ 7:00 p.m., Friday - home vs. Sage @ 4:00 p.m. and Saturday - at Stockton @ 2:00 p.m.
